need help in venice

We have had 12 amazing days in italy well planned thanks to rick steves great suggestions. But now, due to an itinerary change, we will have 2 nights in venice. I did not bring the venice chapter from my rick steves book because we were not going there. I need suggestions for where to stay and what to do over 1.5 days and 2 nights. Thanks ahead of time.

You can access Rick's basic advice about Venice here.

I would use Booking.com to look for lodging. It's not everything, but what they do show you is what they have available at the time and you don't have to spend hours hunting for a room.

Good luck!

If you're willing to consider guest houses run by monasteries and convents, have a look at monasterystays.com - there are several Venice listings.

You can also download Rick's free Audio Tours for a few keys sites. Between now and then, check your hotels for any books left by previous guests. Electronic versions of the Venice book are also for sale in Amazon Kindle format and for most e-book platforms.

For what to do -- what have you seen already? Then we can suggest other things.

Look at the Flora Hotel, very well located. Rick's books have listed it in the past, so assume they still do.

I stayed here in august and thought it was great. Easy to get to the attractions from this hotel.

Hit the local TI on arrival. They will provide more information that you can absorb in two days. They often will id things that may not be in guide books and are more to update than any guide can be. With late notice, it is best to use a booking service such as hotel.com or others.
