Need Help...Honeymoon in Italy

I am going to be spending my honeymoon in Italy and I plan on spending time in Venice, Florence, Cinque Terre, and Tuscany and Rome. Other than doing the normal 'tourist' things I am trying to look for really authentic and unique experiences. I have a couple of questions:

  1. I am planning on spending the bulk of the trip in Tuscany. I am planning on renting a car in Florence and driving through Tuscany. Do any of you have any suggestions on where to go and where to stay?

  2. Are there any festivals anywhere during the last two weeks in October?

  3. Have any of you had any special experiences that you woiuld recommend?

Any help is GREATLY appreciated. I really want to have a speical time.

Thank You!

I rented a car from Hertz at the Florence airport, drove the Chianti Road SR222, visited the sall towns Greve,Rada, Castelina and stayed out side of Siena in an old Farm House that was very nice, then on to Volterra. Left Volterra and drove back to Siena and picked up SR 2 Cassia Road, and went to Montalcino, Pienza and Montepulciano (you could stay in any one of those towns they are all really great places) then drove to Orvieto and dropped the car, stayed at the Ripa Medici (ripamedici.libero) in Orvieto, it was a great place with a great view. We trained to Rome from there and flew home. I do have all the places that we stayed and they were very nice.

www.frommers.com has a calendar feature that includes tons of festivals, parades, concerts and other events. I'm sure it's not exhaustive, but I haven't seen a more complete listing.
