Need help deciding on an Amalfi Coast inn

I have booked all of my Europe inn's for our early October trip, except Amalfi/Positano.. I am torn between a few places. Can you help me decide? Must haves: Private balcony with view of sea & town (I want to eat breakfast to the view in the morning, and drink a glass of wine to the twinkling lights at night!) Besides the view from the balcony, we would like it to be clean, and have a private bathroom and be close walking distance to restaurants/shops. We don't care much about the beach, we will be too busy out exploring. We have narrowed it down to one of the following: Hotel Tramonto D'Oro (can book this with our frequent flyer miles - my onlly fear is Praiano may be 'dead' at night, and we want to do a lot of exploring during the day and not have to worry about missing the last bus back, or not having things near the hotel to do later at night) Le Sirene Positano (the small restaurant/inn on the private beach, not the one in Praiano - has ocean views, but does it have town views?) Hotel La Pergola (can also book this with our freq. flyer miles, but not sure about the balcony views from here being as good) Venus Inn B&B (confused about the "shared but private" terrace people keep mentioning.. is it shared or private?) Best Western Pasitea (can also book with freq flyer miles, views look decent? possibly not near local attractions?) Camere Con Vista (People comment that the owner is offsite and rude? views look good and so does proximity?) So there you have it...... I don't seem to have one that stands out above the rest. I also have a few vacation rental apartments I've checked out that seem okay. Obviously cost is a factor (unless it's freq flyer miles, we need to keep it to around 100Euro Per night). Thank you!

Check out this one:Albergo California, Rick covers this one and is recommended. We haven't stayed there, but I do a lot of day-dream trips and in my mind we will probably go there.

I have a room "rental" that you might like to take a look at in Positano. I rented it for my sister-in-law and her husband for a week this past July. I stayed in a larger apartment, rented thru the same company, www.summerinitaly.com with my family of four. I got to see her apartment and I think it was a great deal. It is called Villa Faustina C. It is a nice size room with large bed and a sofa, bathroom, tiny kitchenette and a very large terrace overlooking the beach/mediteranean. It's a fabulous view. Close to all the shops. The room comes with daily maid service and you can order room service for breakfast. I checked the website and the weekly rental is 780 euro for October, so only a tad over 100 euro per day. I'm not sure how long you want to stay, I believe they rent for partial weeks. Currently, all of October is available.

Kerry - I love that one and actually wanted to book it but it's booked our dates:( First week of October is the only week it's booked, and the only time we will be there. Boo! Summer in Italy has a few others, but they are mostly all Praiano, or out of our budget.
