Laying in bed last night, I realised we really don't have enough time in Tuscany to do everything we want. We are staying just east of Castellina in the Radda district with a car. We are driving from Florence on September 7 and would like to do/see the following: wine tour and tasting at Castello di Verazzano Greve Radda Castellina Siena Montepulciano Montalcino
Volterra? We have our car until about 3 p.m. on the 10th and have to drop it off in Rome. As it is not pre-paid, we can likely bump the time back but we also want to have enough time in Rome (checking out the 13th). I thought we could do Greve, Castellina and Radda in one go and Montepulciano and Montalcino in one go. Could we visit the two Ms on the 7th and devote the 8th to G, R and C, and then the 9th to Siena? Is that too squishy? What could/should I cut? Yikes, help, please!
On the contrary, I think it's very reasonable. Radda -> Castellina 14 mins
Castellina -> Greve 25 mins Radda -> Siena 44 mins Siena -> Montepulciano 1hour 28mins Montepulciano -> Montalcino 40 mins You'll have to start early on day 7. You can stop by Pienza on your way to Montalcino.
I agree with Sean, it sounds very reasonable. I drove from 5 Terre to Civitavecchia in an easy day. Nice drive down the coast. You should have plenty of time. If you drop the car at FCO you are in close proximity to Rome.
Thanks for your replies :-) We are picking our car up at 9 a.m. on the 7th now so we can devote more time in Tuscany, and will be dropping the car off at Rome's termini station.
