Need clarification w Roma Pass little known "tip" about colliseum entrance

Ciao Amici
First I am sorry for asking a question that has been asked and answered. I actually read about this on a post about a month ago but failed to save it. I have been scrolling thru questions but can't find it again. So here's my question.
What is the insider's tip about the roma pass in regards to the colisium. I believe someone said that you can validate at the colliseum (any entrance) but not actually go in if it doesn't fit your agenda for the day) but you then have two days to get back to the colliseum and actually enter and visit. The purpose is to be able to still use it as one of your two free entrances when your schedule doesn't cooperate.. Can someone who knows about this please clarify as I am sure I have the concept confused but I know it's a good idea.
Grazie,
Sherri

Are you trying to visit the Palatine/Forum that day and the Colosseum the next day? If so, why wouldn't you just validate it at the Forum or Palatine? I'm having trouble finding any good reason for validating it at an attraction you don't intend to see while you're right there?

Can you explain a little more what you're trying to do?

And would this paragraph from the Roma Pass website be helpful?

Q: "When the ticket used for a combined entry is valid for more than a day, can it be used during the three days in which the Card is valid?

A: Yes. One of the museums included in the combined entry arrangement can be visited on the first day that the Roma Pass and/or Roma Pass 48 hours are activated. Then the other sites included in the combination can be visited during the remaining days.

In example, with the admission ticket to the Colosseum, the three sites included in the entry can be visited on two different days (within 36 hours). Therefore, if the Colosseum is chosen either as one of the first two sites visited for free, or as one of the sites visited at a reduced price ticket, then the archaeological area of the Roman Forum and the Palatine Hill can be visited on the following day, as long it falls within the cardโ€™s period of validity. In the meantime, the card can be used to visit other sites of your choice.
PLEASE NOTE: the Roman Forum and the Palatine Hill are located in the same archaeological area and count as one admission, therefore if you use the pass to get in once, it cannot be used again for the same site/area (see also FAQ 2.5)."

Thanks soooo much. That is exactly what I was looking for. Now I can figure out how to manage my various reservations and places we need to visit. That helps so much being able to check in, view the colosseum, leave, then go back the next day to visit the forum and the pantheon. By the way, I have been hearing a ton about the Coop Culture underground tour. Is that the only reputable company?

I think you mean "Palatine" in your last post. The Pantheon is free, no ticket needed (it's a church).

Just to be crystal clear, do NOT validate your pass at the Colosseum unless you're going to see it at that time. Otherwise, it'll register as having seen it so you will have wasted that option.

It's usually recommended to do all three sites on the same day, to eliminate backtracking, as they're very close together. I don't know if that's an option on the day you're now planning on doing the Palatine/Forum? Do you have other tours booked on both of the two days, which is why you are thinking you have to split your visits?

Yes. I did. But I have since changed the other reservation and can now breathe more easily. It will be much smoother.
Thanks for advice and help.
