This May we will stay 3 nights in Florence, then 2 in Siena, 1 in Tivoli and 5 in Rome. Should I get a car to see the countryside? We are very interested in gardens and architecture and agritourism. thanks. How should I plan the days from Siena?
If you want to explore Tuscany and the rural countryside, then yes, you will need a car. You could rent one from Siena and just keep it for the time you are there. But you'll have to pay to park it in town, so plan wisely. If you stick with the main cities or just daytrip to the more popular hill towns, then you can easily do that by bus.
thanks so much. do you have any favorites?
Renting a car to see the countryside is a wonderful way to explore the beautiful area, but if you don't positively know how and where to avoid the dreaded ZTL's in Firenze and Siena, then I would not advise that you have a car while you are IN either of these towns; unless you have lots of $$$$$$$ to spend.
thank you so much. I was also planning to drive from
Siena to Tivoli but am starting to wonder if that's a wise idea.
