Need B&B recommendations for Florence, Rome, Positano & Venice

Going to Italy in October and need recommendations for B&B's that have: a) air conditioning b) internet access c) close proximity to attractions
d) at or under $100 per night We plan to splurge in Venice and possibly Positano, but for Florence and Rome we want to try to keep it to $100 a night because we will literally only be sleeping in the room. Any recommendations would be great - so far everything I've found is booked! :/ I know, I'm waiting till the last minute.. but help a girl out anyway? :)

try Ca Angeli www.caangeli.net in Venice. It has an amazing great room right on the Grand Canal, and friendly and helpful staff and a very nice breakfast. Not far from the Rialto Bridge.

Many contributors (not me) to this Board have answered essentially the same question regarding your locations. Their excellent tips and reviews are readily accessible by a simple Google search for which the Webmaestro has posted a sticky detailing all of the 3 clicks which, when executed, will search the Archives. There is a wealth of eye-witness information directly on point in that knowledge base, just waiting to be read.

Are you talking $100US or 100euro?
We are leaving for our trip next week, and keeping our accomodations at 100 euro was tough, but internet access was definitely on my list. I think we are averaging about 110 euro (for Venice, CT, Lucca, Florence, Rome)

Quick observation: don't count on a/c. Most places are going to have it shut off/inaccessible after 15 SEP. Various local statutes dictate a/c "season" as 15 JUN-15 SEP. Period, end of story. If a particular hotel/B&B does actually allow it to be turned on you have found the exception, not the rule and they may in fact be ignoring the local statutes by doing so. PP is correct in asking if you mean $100 US or 100 euro/night. We will be in Sicily latter half of OCT in mostly off the radar B&Bs or very small hotels and are still spending average $124US/night--or about 85euros (I calculated it a few days ago)--2 properties are 3 stars, but the other 3 properties don't even qualify for stars due to their "inn" or "B&B" classification rather than hotel.

Good to know about the AC. And yes I was referring to $100 dollars US, I know it's low.. but we were trying to stick to the budget. I can go a little higher, but was just trying to keep things as economical as possible. Like I said we don't need fancy accomodations so I am hoping we can find something to suit our needs within those guidelines.

In Florence, the Archi Rossi Hostel gives you everything you are looking for, except that it isn't a b&b. Book through their website. Yes, I was there in October and the AC was operating - individual units in the rooms with remote control. In Rome, Hotel Italia, Via Venezia 18, has everything. Again, not a b&b. There was an individual AC/heating unit in the room. I was there in February and they gave me the remote to turn it on for heat. They may possibly charge for it in October, still worth it for Rome. In Venice, I stayed at La Calcina. Also a hotel, but with lots of charm and a great breakfast. Again, AC unit in the room and remote control. All the above had free wifi. I think that you won't find a b&B anywhere for under €100.

Thanks guys - I am completely fine with a hotel not a B&B, I just didn't want a chain hotel ie Marriot or Best Western ;) These are some great rec's unfortunately most are sold out but I am looking into all of them! I will update with what I have found/price after I book. I plan on doing so this weekend.

Have you tried booking.com and venere.com? You can specify dates and prices and they'll show you what's available. Good luck.

We stayed at Villa La Tartana last year in Positano, a lovely B&B with private balcony over looking water and only a less than 5 minute walk from the church, great service. We paid about $250.00 for a room that slept 4 adults and an infant, not sure what a standard double would cost but worth checking out their website. Maybe since you are going in October, their prices might be reasonable.
