Need advice for pre-booking airport transfer to FLR airport

Is there a way to pre-book a taxi for a transfer to the Florence (FLR) airport? I attempted to pre-book through the It-Taxi app and it won’t allow us to reserve on the app for some reason (we get a message to call instead). My Taxi app doesn’t pre-book the day before and I don’t feel comfortable requesting a taxi the day of. We will be needing a taxi at 6:45 am

Our bed and breakfast doesn’t seem to be interested in helping us pre-book a taxi the day before and states that we can call a taxi company the morning of, but communication in English is not good. There will be no staff at the B & B in the morning to help us.

We are in a more residential neighborhood across the river from the city center, so there isn’t too much activity.

Any thoughts or strategies? Any advice would be appreciated!

Call 055-4242 or 055-4390 or 055-4798 a day or two in advance and book a taxi at your place at your preferred time. I guess people on the other side of the phone will understand enough English to book you, especially if you care to speak slowly and clearly. You could call the very same morning as well, but booking in advance gives you peace of mind. This is the way I do (but I speak Italian).

Thank you for the advice! Is there also a taxi stand area that we can visit in person today in Firenze and pre-book? We will be in the touristic area seeing the sites. If we can do this in person, this would make us feel more comfortable.

You could also investigate a car service by googling, "Florence, Italy car services." I found several listed and Tripadvisor has them rated. You could check their websites for info. Also, try googling Florence, Italy cabs. Some of the websites would provide fare info and the ability to book in advance.

Buon viaggio,

There are no dispatchers at taxi stands, so not sure if you could pre-book at one. I you want to talk to a taxi driver about pre-booking, the most convenient location in the center is probably the one on Piazza della Repubblica near Caffe Paszkowski.

I usually call the same morning and never had to wait more than 5 min. The dispatchers speak English, but I don’t remember if you need to press a digit to get the English speaking dispatcher, but either way make sure you learn to pronounce your street address correctly.
You can call the evening before and book the same way.

You cannot really book a taxi with much advance, I believe no more than three days in advance as they do not know who will be really available, but if you are so concerned - IMHO you shouldn't - I see that the 055-4390 service has a mail address, [email protected], you could write them and ask infos about English being spoken by the dispatcher. The 055-4242 has a similar address, [email protected]; you can contact them on WhatsApp at +39-334-6622550 as well. Please consider that these are two competing services (I believe 055-4798 is an alternate number for 055-4242, not 100% sure) so if you book with both of them you will get two taxies!

Thanks to all for the tips. We called a taxi company and pre-booked. They connected us with someone who spoke English and it was very easy.
