I have a plan to fly from US to Milan with a stay in Varenna. We arrive Milan 10/10/19 and head straight to Varenna and stay 2 days then back to Milan for 2 days , fly back to US 10/14/19. We’ve been to Milan before so we can reduce our stay to 1 night if needed. We would love your recommendation on a train route to include the Bernina route either from Milan to Varenna or return trip from Varenna to Milan.
We would like to use the regular trains if possible.

Use www.sbb.ch/en to plot the possibilities. Milan to St. Moritz or Chur 4.5 to 5 hours one way. Long day round trip. Probably best to spend a night (I’d pick Chur) and return to Milan for your flight home.
