Probably a silly question, but we plan to take our iPad to Italy. I've seen a number of places that sell the 2-pronged adapters but they often reference a voltage converter. Do I need a voltage converter for my iPad or just the adapter? Thanks
Tom
Most likely just a plug adapter. But for your own assurance (should always do this, anyway). Check the voltage input on the plug and if it says something close to, Input 120-240v - you are good to go. Tom, As Frank mentioned, the Charger for the iPad is almost certainly designed for operation from 100-240 VAC, as that's the case with my iPhone Charger. Therefore, you'll only need a Plug Adaptor specific to the countries you'll be visiting, which for Italy will be the two-pin European/Schuko model as shown here: http://www.magellans.com/magellan-s-european-style-adaptor-plug I'd suggest packing along at least two Plug Adaptors, as they're easy to "misplace" and they're cheap so not a huge travel expense. If the Charger does operate from 100-240 VAC, DO NOT use this with a Voltage Converter. There are two principles used in voltage conversion, and it's important to use the correct type with electronic products. Happy travels!
Hi Tom, I have both an iPhone and iPad and use them overseas frequently. Since the internal components are quite sensetive I have purchased the Apple converter kit at my local Apple store. It consists of a converter specifically designed for their devices as well as adapters for most countries/continents in the world. I think it's worth the investment to protect these expensive devices! Some converters don't convert as well as you might like.
I travel to Europe with my Ipad and also bought the two pronged plug at the
apple store. Better Safe than Sorry
