Need a place to stay outside of rome.....any suggestions??

We are starting in the Netherlands in September and driving down to Italy and going through Venice then Tuscany area and then want to explore Rome. So we will have a rental car with us and dont want to drive in Rome at all. So we are looking for a place to stay that we can leave our car there and just take the train into rome. Any suggestions??

We always stay at a b&b in Ariccia, which is 1 hour south of Roma in the Castelli Romani. Going into Roma is easy from here. We drive toward Roma on the Via Appia Nuova (New Appain Way) and park at the metro stop at Arcp Travertino. It takes about 15 minutes to arrive at Stazione Termini, which is the main train station. The cost is 1 euro each way. If, for example, you wanted to go to the Vatican just stay on until you arrive at Ottiviano and then exit.

The Castelli Romani is a beautiful and tranquil region unlike the chaos of Roma. It is also cooler there, as well.

Buon viaggio,

RB

I have read of these two, both of which have reviews on Trip Advisor.

Il Colle degli Ulivi (Zagarolo) and Villa Fiuzi (Palestrina)

You might also want to consider staying in Orvieto. It is only a 75 minute train ride from Roma. If you park in the rear station parking lot it is free.

Two years ago I stayed at the Hotel Corso and was very pleased with the property. You could also check venere.com and tripadvisor for client reviews.

Anne's Place Bed and Breakfast, highly rated on TripAdvisor.com. It is out in the countryside and they will shuttle you back and forth to the local train station.

We also parked the car for four days in the large, free, secure parking lot at the train station in Orvieto. We stayed at Hotel Valentino the night before and after our trip to Rome. We really enjoyed this very quaint hilltown--the Duomo, restaurants and, especially, Orvieto Classico vino. We'll probably be passing each other on the autostrada--I'm also planning a trip for Sept/Oct. Have fun on yours!

Scott, Anne's Place has moved to Puglia but she recommends the two that I posted about (see above).

Take a look at Eurostars Roma Congress. It's a bit on the eastern fringe so getting a car to it is easy plus they have parking. They have a shuttle back and forth to Termini Station.

Megan, I also suggest Orvieto but check Casa Selita B&B, I think you will fall in love with this place.
