I am looking for 3 rooms for our family of 7 adults in Venice for the night before we depart for a cruise. I just want it clean, safe and easy to find. I would prefer to pay less than $300 for each room. Would love to have breakfast included! Everything I look at is booked! Thank you, Mary
Mary, if everything you're looking at is booked then one of 2 things is going on. Either 1) everything really is booked and you're completely out of luck, or 2) nobody in Venice wants to commit 3 of their rooms for one night in the middle of cruise season so they just tell you there's nothing available. My guess is it's the latter. If you can manage to stay one or two more days you may have better luck.
If you absolutely can't change from 3 rooms for one night, then I suggest something in a smaller town on the railroad or a large chain hotel near the airport.
You might try Ca dei Dogi. I have booked it for April based on a recommendation on this site. I also googled and it appears nice with a good location.
We went to Venice in October with our family of five (adults and children). I called Hotel d'Art (I think one of Rick's recommendations) the morning before we arrived. I told them what we needed and asked what they had. They gave us an apartment that was owned by the hotel but a short walk from the lobby that wasn't fancy but worked perfectly. As I recall the apartment was between 150-200 Euro per night. Unless you are arriving in the middle of a major festival, you should be able to find something suitable by calling a few hotels.
Have you considered looking for a large apartment rather than three hotel rooms? Several sites list apartments . . . do a search on this forum for discussions on good places to find apartments.
You might look into the Palazzo Odoni CLICK HERE. They are within walking distance of the cruise terminal docks. Highly rated by Trip Advisor. From what I read, avoid Room 7 as it shares a wall with the restaurant storage area. Quite noisy.
You might also browse THIS LINK for hotels nearby the cruise terminal. On the left side of the web page, you can make selections to browse by star rating. Venice has star ratings for their hotels. Some are as low as 65euro a night.
Jarrod is correct above about Hotels wanting a 3-night minimum. We ran into that last year when we needed one night while waiting for the new Hilton Molino Stucky to open June 1. Tough time getting one night. We managed to get one at the Hotel Messner (RS book) but it was a 1-star room. Not bad, however. The shower was smaller than a phone booth but clean and not bad for one night.
