Navigation Apps and ZTLs - Piemonte

Hello all. We'll be driving around Piemonte next week. Mostly small towns around Alba and then around Lake Maggiore. We plan on using Waze or Google maps for navigation. Does anyone know if either apps alert you to upcoming ZTLs? Or if another app like Here We Go might do so?

I think I trained my eye to spot the signs. But, it's be nice to have accurate alerts. Thanks in advance.

Motored around that area a few years back and found that of the places we visited, only Alba and Asti had a ZTL. None in Barbaresco or Barolo or other towns.Don’t know how well the map programs spell them out. Here’s a link to a ZTL finder that I’ve used for years. If you type in a location and the city doesn’t appear in the drop down list, no ZTLs to report. No tickets to report, either!

also watch out for the two ( I think it is only 2 ) Piemonte toll roads with no toll booths. Most likely to get on it is south and east of Lake Maggiore.

You need to notice when you join and exit and then find your journey online and then pay for it. You can register ahead of time.

That's a lovely area - enjoy!

It really is a lovely area.

We were there in 2019 and I'm pretty certain Barolo has a ZTL. It sticks in my mind that you round a fairly sharp curve to enter the town and the ZTL was right at the end of the curve. Fortunately, there is a large lot with free parking right there. I don't recall there being a ZTL in Barbaresco. We used Waze and I don't recall getting alerts.

Thank you all for the replies.

Philip.......The website showing cities and towns with ZTL is great. I hadn't run across that before. It looks as though we should be minimally impacted. I figured Alba would have a ZTL for sure. But, I had scouted out the parking options which seems to be plentiful just outside the city center.

Nigel......thanks for the heads up. I hadn't heard they have toll roads with no toll booths. I figured they may have unattended exits here and there. But, I have a chip and PIN credit card I was hoping might work at an automated booth. I'll look on the Autostrade website and see if I can find details.

Frank....most helpful, too. I've been reviewing traffic signs routinely and involved my wife to help recognize the signs for ZTL. After reading all the experiences of people driving in Italy, I'm taking the challenge not to get traffic violations in the mailbox months later! LOL.

Nigel you may have posted a link to the wrong web-site, that's the A36 whose route is entirely in Lombardy. It has no booth, but it is quite far from the Langhe region.

Easy place to park in Alba is at the large parking garage adjoining the rail station. Very short walk into city center.

I can't find the other website at the moment - I mean the A26 to A8 towards Varesse and Lugano
