Navigating Milan's airport (Milpensa)

My original layover in Milan was 3 hours. I just received an update saying my layover time is now one hour twenty minutes. I'm flying from Rome to Milan on Alitalia and then need to find Air Canada to fly to Toronto. I wouldn't be concerned but I'm flying with my two young boys. How easy is it to navigate Milpensa to find my Air Canada flight? Thank You!!

The airport is huge. If you can look at a floorplan online, that might help. Signage is good, though. Are you arriving and leaving from gates that are near each other?

I guess that's what I'm really not sure about. How near would the gates be from a regional Alitalia flight and an international Air Canada flight?

It's big but compact.
there are 3 satellites piers. Your arrival with the domestic flight and the departure to Canada will be in two separate piers so the gates won't be next to each other. Also you will be deplaning to the lower floor and going back up to the upper floor to board. Just follow signs to flight connections (or transfers).
But I've made the connect in 20 min. once, so you have more than enough time assuming you arrive on time from Rome.

Thank you! It's very reassuring to hear I should make it barring any flight delays.

I think it will be highly likely that you won't park at a gate, but be bused to the terminal from the parking area on the tarmac. That has been my experience flying to MXP inter Italy and inter EU on both Alitalia and Easyjet, rhw last time on 4 July.
