Navigating Milan and Milpensa airport

We will be flying in and out of Milan for our trip to Northern Italy at the end of April.

I'm a little confused about navigating the airport and the train. I booked a room near the central train station for our first night because we will be leaving the next morning for the Como region (by train obviously). In my research it looks like the train from the airport does not go to this station--am I understanding this correctly? If so, any advice on getting into Milan (other than the outrageous taxi fairs). Is the central station on the same line? Is the bus a better idea? To complicate things, our flight arrives at around 6:00PM on a Saturday evening.

Thanks so much!

Hi Shannon,
The train from Malpensa goes to the Cadorna station (not the main station). However, there are buses that go directly to the Central Station. The bus is only about 5 Euro and takes about an hour. If you are staying near Milan Central, I would take the airport bus. It is quite easy. Go to the Malpensa airport website and it should detail your options.

Shannon, just note that Malpensa and the central train station are very far away from each other. Malpensa is hardly even in Milan at all. The bus mentioned by the earlier poster is the best way to get to the central train station from the "Milan" Malpensa airport.

The Malpensa website has info about options. Go to http://www.sea-aeroportimilano.it/en/malpensa/ and click on "Connections" link on left side, then pick train or bus. Only the bus shuttles take you directly to the Central Station, the train as mentioned above does not. There are departures about every 20 minutes, even on Saturday p.m.

Thank you all! I was hoping the bus was a good option (I read about it on the airport's website but you never know). Thanks guys, I really appreciate the information.
