National transportation strike from September 7 - 9

I will be in Venice on September 8th 2024. I bought a train ticket to Florence in the morning. It looks like I’ll be affected. How do I get from Venice to Florence?

There are trains that are guaranteed to run even during a strike. The list is here:
https://www.trenitalia.com/content/dam/tcom/allegati/trenitalia_2014/informazioni/TABELLA_A_Treni_garantiti_DPLH.pdf

You can check and see if your train number is listed. It's usually some in the morning and some in the evening.
Trenitalia is required to rebook you if your train is disrupted by that's less help to tourists with reservations and schedules.

The other alternative/back-up is the privately run .Italo service that runs fast trains. https://www.italotreno.com/en
The usually don't strike and are not named in the strike action currently.

Some more background on the strike:

Also keep in mind not all strikes happen and not all workers comply with the strikes. The upside is some things run the downside is it's hard to know in advance what will actually be happening.

I was booked on a guaranteed train into Venice on a true national strike day. It was late, ran much slower than normal but it got us there. Then the vaporetti were on strike but that a different story.

Good luck,

Trains that are guaranteed to run even in the event of a strike only have that protection from Monday through Saturday. Because the train strike beginning on September 8 falls on a Sunday— there will be no guaranteed Trenitalia trains running. This strike will hit Trenitalia trains. Italotreno (“Italo”) trains are not part of this strike, with buses also exempted.

That's an important detail thanks @Kenko.

I won't be looking to use the train until the afternoon of the 9th - hopefully it won't be too impacted. I will also be looking to steer around Florence if possible with their local public transit strike.

Good luck everyone,
