I see that a national transportation strike is scheduled for March 8, 2017. My plane arrives in Pisa on March 9. I know that strikes must be announced ahead of time and often don't happen or get rescheduled. Do I have anything to worry about, such as the strike getting rescheduled to March 9?
Not Really. Or they have the strike, or it gets cancelled. Maybe they'll say "rescheduled" but it means cancelled until they program another one (the following month or even later).
Strikes generally don't flow over into the following day.
I know transportation strikes are frequently announced in Italy. Kate, I am wondering how you found out about the announcement. If you or anyone on the Forum can share a website with this info I'd appreciate it.

See http://www.trenitalia.com/tcom-en/Purchase/Info-&-Contacts/In-case-of-strike for general info. From there, you can link to the Italian version with more current info at http://www.trenitalia.com/tcom/Informazioni/Treni-garantiti-in-caso-di-sciopero and to traffic updates at http://www.viaggiatreno.it/viaggiatrenonew/index.jsp.
grazie mille!
Marti, I got that info from this website http://scioperi.mit.gov.it/mit2/public/scioperi. It has info on all kinds of transportation strikes, not just train.
This is the site which lists all upcoming strikes. It is usually updated on a daily basis.
