National Holidays

I will be in Italy on Nov 1, All Saints Day, which is a national holiday. Are restaurants open on national holidays? Does local public transportation run as frequently? More specifically, I may be in Capri on Nov 1. Anything I should be aware of for a national holiday outside of a major city? Thank you!

Restaurants on tourist destinations are surely open on holidays, that is when they make most money. Public transportation will not run as frequently, but that varies. Trains run on a holiday schedule (more or less similar to a Sunday schedule). Certain bus routes might not be operating. Nov 1st marks the start of "low season" for most Southern Italy destinations (it is in the middle of the wettest period for that area around Napoli also), so you might find many seasonal business already closed until March next year.

Elena, I was in Agrigento on November 1 a couple of years ago, and had no problem finding places that were open. Schedules are posted as "festivi" (feasts or holidays) and "feriale" (normal operation). If you're on Capri, chances are good that you won't have much trouble finding places that are open.
