Hello, we will be in Rome over Easter and for Natale di Roma and I'm hearing conflicting information on what, if any, museums, sites are offering discounted or complimentary addmission for this holiday. If you go to the Roma Pass website it says many sites are free on the week of this holiday but I can't confirm where. Has anyone know anything about this? Thanks so much!
It appears that the Rome cultural week in April is for state museums and sights only. Those would include Colosseum/Forum, National Gallery, Borghese and Etruscan Museum. Last time I was in Rome on a cultural day, there was a reduced admission rate for Colosseum/Forum and the others were free (Borghese still requires a reservation). Not sure whether that will be the case again this time. Note that several important museums and sights in Rome aren’t state-owned. They’re owned by Rome or Lazio, which has a separate free museum event. Capitoline Museum, Trajan’s Forum and Elevator to the Sky are a few that come to mind. Vatican Museum is another exception. The TI offices usually have a list of the free museums and sights.
Edit: You can do additional research on the www.beniculturali.it website, but sometimes information available in English is less detailed than that available in Italian.
Thank you very much! Off to research what you've added here.
