We (2 older couples) arrive in Napoli Centrale Statione in the afternoon of May 12 this year. I've heard much caution about pick pockets. The place we stay is B&B Orsini 46, just past Giardini del Molosiglio. What is the best/safest way to get from the station to our accommodation?

There will be plenty in line at the taxi stand in front of the station, just like at any airport.
Definitely use a taxi, and as Roberto says, get one at the taxi stand, do not follow anyone else who approaches you and offers a ride. The B & B you have chosen is WONDERFUL, enjoy your stay!
Also, take usual precautions against pickpockets - keeping valuables out of sight in moneybelt or neck wallet, etc.
Be on guard for thieves who work in teams. When I travel in Europe and anyone comes up and asks me anything or anything unusual happens within 15 foot radius your radar should go on that you are getting ready to be ripped off. Pay attention to distractions i.e. someone asking you what time it is while their partner slides their hand into your pocket or perhaps in crowded train takes boxcutter and slits open a backpack pocket.
