We will have one night in Naples next September, while traveling between 2 locations. We will arrive around noon and depart the next day around noon for Rome. I have identified a nice-looking hotel, Palazzo Firenze, a block north of Piazza Garibaldi, the huge piazza in front of the station.
We prefer to walk in cities as much as possible, rather than riding the metro or buses. In reading reviews and blogs about Naples, it seems that whatever seedy reputation the train station area might have had in the past, it has improved considerably. Is this true? There are so many hotels and restaurants around there, I find it hard to imagine it would be a bad area.
Just looking for opinions from others who have been to Naples. I am sure we will go back for a stay someday, but this time is has to be just the one night.
Thanks for your help.
