Napoli airport ATMs?

Does the Napoli airport have ATM to get € cash or do I need to use a “travelex” counter to get € cash upon my arrival?

Without even looking much, my response will be, Yes there are ATMs at the airport. All but the smallest airports offer ATMs.

Expect though that you will incur some type of use fee (several euros), and you likely will be offered DCC. If you decline DCC, the exchange rate will only be ~1% over Interbank rate, a much better deal than Travelex, even with paying a use fee at the ATM.

Be aware also that if you use your credit card or phone with contactless capability, you will need very little cash. I try to have maybe 50 EUR as backup, but usually take about that much home with me for the next trip. Many, many places accept contactless for all but the very smallest purchases, but you do run into the rare "cash only" places here and there.

Thank you Paul. Glad to not give my money to travelex. Unfortunately, I will need cash upon arrival as the bed & breakfast I’m staying at in Sorrento has arranged for a car for me to take me there and I need to pay driver in cash.

Thanks again!

You can get euros before you leave-we like to bring about 100 euros cash

Just easier/less stressful to have on hand when we arrive
One less thing to do

Last couple trips we barely used that up -almost everywhere is tap and pay now

AAA, your bank, etc
All are possibilities

That’s good to know too. I think I’ll do that. I didn’t realize you can get EU at AAA or banks in US. I have about 20 EU in my passport from my last trip but that won’t be enough.
Thanks!
Ciao!

Yes there are ATMs at the airport. All but the smallest airports offer ATMs.

But be careful - some airport ATMs are offered by currency exchange firms like Travelex or Euronet. So lousy rates.

You should be looking for a Bancomat - associated with an Italian bank.

Even a Travelex or Euronet ATM need not be expensive. Yes, they will certainly offer DCC, but you decline, and the exchange is still handled by your card network at ~1%. You will also be charged a fee of a few euros, but just about any ATM at an airport, and most in town, will charge that fee. If you planned, your card may even reimburse those fees.

Yes yes, I know to avoid travelex (& the others) atms. I will keep my eyes peeled for ING (stopping in Schiphol en route to Napoli). Unfortunately my credit unions do not handle foreign currency 😒
I looked into the AAA fed ex shipment of cash EU to me (with a $15 shipping fee & I have to be home to sign)
I’m just going to find a local (netherlands) bank atm at Schiphol, store my big wad of cash for the driver into my money belt until I get to Napoli and then discreetly (in the restroom) retrieve it to give to driver upon my arrival to Naples airport.
I appreciate everyone’s input!

Your bank (or a friend’s bank) … not a credit union usually, will offer any amount of euros for a set fee $15? Sometimes free. In any case, a better deal and easier than an ATM. My point is, get enough for your first Several days plus the amount needed for your required cash. Then you won’t have to deal with an ATM when your jet-lagged.
