Naples: Walking from train to ferry via Via dei Tribunali w/ luggage (I NEED PIZZA!)

My wife and I are arriving at Napoli Centrale at 17:00, and we have a ferry to catch at Porta di Massa at 19:10. We would really like to visit a pizzeria or two along Via dei Tribunali.

Is it doable to walk from Napoli Centrale to Porta di Massa along Via dei Tribunali with luggage, and to find a pizzeria along the way that will let us in with one medium-sized piece of luggage each?

Will rolling luggage around Naples make us prime targets for thieves and pickpockets? Will pizzerias refuse to let us in if we have luggage? Anyone have any other options for how we could accomplish our goal?

Thanks!

I would not roll luggage down via dei Tribunale, it's long, narrow, congested and bumpy. One of my favorite streets, however.

You will have time for one pizzeria, if that, and your travel time is early for dinner. Luggage in restaurants is allowed but could be problematic if the restaurant is small.

Real pizzerias tend to be shuttered at those hours.

Better, perhaps, to stop in an enoteca for a beverage and small bites.

Way too long of a walk with luggage.

Try this. Alibus-Port (luggage storage at Molo Beverello
20 min. 4E

Edit. Bus not luggage storage.

10 min walk to http://www.50kalò.it/index.php/en/

Pick up luggage on return. Take the shuttle bus to porta di
Massa.

Just keep an eye on the clock,
2 hours does not give you a lot of time.

I trust you know they don't sell pizza by the slice, right?

When we went for lunch in Naples, we had to wait outside in a scrum of hungry guests until our name was called 1/2 hour later. As others noted, outside of hours, the place isn't quiet, it's closed!

Napoli Centrale has a beautiful big Cafe' off the lobby on the main floor, they sell yummy pizza by the slice, all varieties, and I think the most delicious "American" coffee. (For me, they got out a big cup and poured whatever they had in the pot they were holding, and it was delicious!). They also sell a lot of other food. Huge space, lots of tables and chairs. (There is a McDonald's next to the cafe', if you walk thru the cafe', you'll see it.)

There is a luggage storage room down a long hallway, ask one of the many cops around for directions, cost was 6 Euro a bag plus show your passports. Or You can keep your luggage with you at the cafe', adults and kids begging for money may approach you so keep your money in a neck wallet or money belt, i recommend no purses, and stay with your bags at all time, it's Napoli, they've been doing this for decades. When floor crew see them, they escort them out.

Take a cab to the Ferry, walking in Napoli is different, you will have motorcycles zinging past you, coming and going, on both sides. They go up on sidewalks too, not supposed to, but they do. You don't have much time, many eating places close between 3 pm and 7 pm, so why not just relax in the cafe'.

Thanks for the feedback, everyone. I've decided to skip Via dei Tribunali and give Da Michele a try. Our luggage isn't too big, and we'll be visiting at what appears to be a slow time, so fingers crossed that we'll be able to get a table. If not, we'll get it to go.
