Walk down stairs, slight left, follow signs to the Circumvesuviana. Buy a ticket. Validate (Time stamp) the ticket. Get off at the last stop.

You have two other options: car service (probably 70 euro). Contact your hotel for help with that. The other, and much more fun, is take a cab to the harbor and hop a hydofoyle over to Sorrento. Wonderful way to start your vacation!

judy,

These are your options.....

  • Use the somewhat "colourful" Circumvesuviana commuter train from the Napoli Garibaldi station (downstairs from Centrale) to Sorrento. Note that they have several lines going to different places, so be sure to board the correct train. The Circumvesuviana has somewhat of a reputation for pickpockets and scammers, so watch your luggage carefully!
  • Use the more tourist-oriented Campania Express, which I believe also departs from the Garibaldi station. Note that this is a seasonal service, and doesn't operate year-round (AFAIK) - http://ots.eavsrl.it/web/public/ots/ticket/index
  • Hire a private car service for that trip. This will be the most expensive, but also the most comfortable and easiest option. This is one firm you could use - http://www.monettitaxi17.it/English.htm .
  • Take a Taxi to the dock and use the Ferry. This isn't an option that has ever appealed to me, but some people enjoy taking the boat.
  • Take a Taxi to the Naples airport and use the Curreri Viaggi Bus, which will get you to Sorrento in about an hour for €10 PP - http://www.curreriviaggi.it/eng/autolinee.html
