Hi All - Have you utilized Naples' Train Station left luggage counter? How safe/secure do you consider it? We are considering leaving our 2 suitcases there for a few hours while doing a self-guided walk in Naples. Thanks in advance for your advice.
Yes, I have used it, and I consider it safe. Someone at the luggage counter will take your bag and give you a ticket for it, and only one with that matching claim ticket can claim your bag. So, just don't lose your ticket. But, no one else can get in the baggage room in the meantime (unless they seriously wanted to); your stuff will be safe. Of course, hopefully you won't be packing super-valuable items anyway, so I doubt anyone would be solely going after your clothes. But enjoy Naples and enjoy your travels!
We did exactly that last September while we visited Naples. We had trouble locating the left luggage counter, but felt completely safe leaving our luggage.
I totally agree with the previous posters, we used for half a day, we had no problems at all, they also make a photocopy of your passport.
Have fun in Naples!
