Naples to Syracuse

Hello, We're going from Naples to Syracuse, and we don't want to do the eight hour train ride. Is there a great place to visit and stay half way between travel points? Something about 4 hours from Naples on our way to Syracuse? We want to find somewhere nice to stay overnight, break up the length of the train trip? Thanks!!
