we are traveling to Rome the last week of Sept. for our son's wedding in Ravello the last week of September and plan on taking a train from Rome to Naples. Can anybody suggest whether to continue taking the train to Sorrento and then the ferry to Amalfi or ferry from Naples to Amalfi or something better? What to look out for and should we book our reservations in advance?
I would take the train all the way to Salerno, then from Salerno one could take a boat to Amalfi (or the bus or a private car).
Roberto's advice is easier than transferring from train to local train to other transportation. A private car would take you all the way to Ravello, if that is where you are staying.
Roberto's advice is good. For ferry options see www.alicost.it
You can book online.
