We will be arriving in Naples airport in early October, 1:15 pm. Would it be better to get to taxi to Molo Bevellero and hydrofoil 2:40pm to Sorrento or take the 2:30 Curreri bus?

The bus is going to be your most convenient option as you can catch it right at the airport. It also delivers you to the middle of Sorrento. To take the boat, you'd have to transfer to the port in Naples, and then transfer again from the Sorrento port to the upper town, assuming that's where your accommodations are.
Depending on where you're staying, you may have to take a taxi from the bus stop in Sorrento if your hotel is some distance away but ours was an easy walk from the train station, which is also where the bus stop is.
