Is it better to take the train or hydrofoil from naples to sorrento?
Also, naples to capri?

Define "better". Cheaper? Quicker? More scenic?
As for Capri, it is an island so I doubt the trains go there.

Lol, i know it is an island, but I shaould have said, is the hydrofoil worth the extra money over the ferry?

The train is quicker to Sorrento if you arrive by train, because you need to get to the Molo Beverello to catch a boat first. If you are in Naples already and staying near the Molo Beverello, then it might be faster with the hydrofoil, which takes only about 30 min.
Regarding Naples-Capri it depends on how much you value your time.
Ferry=80 min. crossing for €12.70
Fast Ship= 50 min. for €17.80
Hydrofoil Jet=40 min. for €19.10
By choosing the fastest way (hydrofoil) you save 40 minutes over the slower ferry but you spend €6.40 more. Is 16 cents extra for every minute you save worth to you? If your time in the area is limited and you are in a hurry to get to Capri, I think it would. If you have plenty of time at your disposal, maybe not. Only you can decide.
