What is the most efficient and/or cost effective way of getting from Naples International Airport to Rome? Land in Naples at 2:00pm on October 8. Thank you!
For us, it's always the train.
What train goes directly from the airport to Rome?
There are no trains going to or from Naples airport, I’m afraid!
Cab or bus.
Cab…be sure it’s official from the rank ….will be about E20 plus charges for luggage.
Bus:
Exit the airport and find the stop for the “Alibus”, the airport bus.
The stop is on the right just a little up the road in front of the airport.
A ticket to Piazza Garibaldi, where Napoli Centrale Rail Station is, costs about E6 pp and the trip takes about 25 minutes.
Buy tickets at a desk inside the airport.
Buses go every 20 minutes or so.
It’s the first stop after the airport.

Walk into the rail station and buy tickets for the next train to Rome.
They go very frequently.
Buy at machines or at a desk with an agent.
You can travel on either Trenitalia or Italo trains.
A faster train will cost about E40-50 each, a slow one from E14-20 each.
I’m thinking you want to get to Roma Termini Rail Station in Rome?
It’s the biggest , and central.
Thank you SJ for the precise logistics information. I appreciate your input - it will make life much easier knowing these specifics.
You may not want to consider the slower trains, around 3 hours. The fastest ones are premium product called Frecciarossa, a bit over an hour. Probably does not sell out in October.
David: you’re welcome!
Have a wonderful trip!
I meant I would take a cab to the Naples train station and then a high speed train to Rome - or better yet, change my airline ticket to fly directly to Rome.
