Naples to Rome Airport (FCO)

Our Sept trip ends in Naples and the airline tix we are looking at is out of Rome (FCO). We have looked at the train from Naples to Rome; has anyone done that? How much time should we plan? Is there a better way to get from Naples to the Rome Airport (FCO)? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Steve is exactly correct. The total train fare will be 55 Euros (44 Naples/Rome on the AV train; 11 Rome/FCO). Travel time is 70 minutes to Rome; 30 minutes to FCO (must add connection time).

If this seems expensive, you can save some money by taking a less expensive (and slower) train from Naples to Rome, but that might not be in your best interest if you're taking an outbound flight to the U.S. and need to be at the airport three hours ahead.

Our RS South Italy trip ended in Naples last Sept.
We took the train to Termini & transferred to the Leonardo Express to FCO. We were flying to Paris, so didn't need to arrive 3 hours early, it worked fine.
We didn't need 1st class seats, but did take a direct train & not a regional one from Naples to Termini.

Thanks, Mimi. That is exactly what we will do. We are flying from Rome to the U.S. so will have to be there 3 hours ahead. We know it will be an early morning, but oh well! We are really looking forward to the South of Italy Tour.
