Since it will be about 15-17 hours of travel time to reach our first day's destination of Positano, I wonder about using a shuttle ride/taxi for the last leg of the trip of Naples to Positano after the train ride to Naples. Has anyone done this or have ideas on the least expensive service for this for 2 people who may be in a zombie state at that point??

On a recent trip to Rome, after a very long flight, we hired a car and driver to take us to our hotel in the city. There were MUCH cheaper alternatives to doing this, but having finished the very long flight, and not knowing where I was going, we really didn't want to fight with the luggage and do the combination train/bus/taxi to get to the hotel. We really appreciated the direct service and recommend it to everyone.

I agree with the previous poster. We were in Sorrento last month. We knew that we would be exhausted by the time we got to Naples, so we hired a car and driver through our hotel. It was wonderful to get off the train with all of our luggage, and to find him waiting for us. We just sat back and enjoyed the ride with sightseeing dialogue from the driver.

How much does this kind of service cost? Is it a per-person charge or a set fee that everyone can split up?

It is one set price. I have a quote for 120 euros from Naples to Positano hotel.
