Good morning. We are traveling in September to Italy. We fly into Naples and will spend one night before taking the ferry to Ischia where we will stay for a couple of days. Then we will ferry back to Naples and pick up a car and plan to drive to Matera where we will spend a couple of days. My question is, would there be somewhere in between that we should stop for lunch and take a break before moving on to Matera. Since we will be in Matera for a few days, we plan to try to time it so we get there in time to check in. Thank you.
You could stop in Caserta for pizza at Masanielli, which was crowned “best pizza in the world” in 2022. And visit the palace Reggia dinCaserta if you have time.
Or stop in nearby Caiazzo for pizza at Pepe in Grani, which earned a similar award a few years prior.
