Does the train route from Naples to Florence provide an opportunity to enjoy the beautiful countryside in this part of Italy or should I plan on renting a car?
Views from the train from Naples to Florence are great! Lots of small farms with varying crops, rolling hills, and ruins scattered among the fields. Oh, and a monastery/abbey or two on the hill tops. I liked the region from Naples to Rome a little better than Rome to Florence but that's probably because it was our first train excursion by train in Italy on our recent vacation. I thought the most boring train ride was from Milan to Venice and very glad I didn't have to drive that leg of our vacation. Would not want to do any of this by bus and on our next trip here we might rent a car for just a day trip. But overall I'm hooked on Italy train travel! Dave, email me at [email protected] and I'll send you a couple of picts from the Rome to Florence leg of our train travel. Don't know how to post them here.
