I am a 65 year old woman traveling aloneto Italy Dec. 22-Jan.1. I am spending 4 days in Rome, then onto Naples through the 29th. I plan to go from Naples to Candela, Foggia 12/29-12/31 to visit my grandfather's birthplace. I am running into train issues as it appears only one at 3:20 arriving at 7:05 and the only train leaving to go back to Rome on the 31st is at 7:45am arriving at 12:05. The buses are much too long at 6-7 hours. Any suggestions on alternatives and/or private transfers. This is my first visit to Italy, but not planning on it being my last. Thank you for any help you can give me.

The bus from Naples is probably faster than the train via Caserta-Foggia.
The bus is operated by AirCampania bus company.
Open the link below then click on Basin of Naples (Bacino di Napoli)
The bus line number is 34-Ce, which connects Naples to Foggia but also stops also in Candela

To return to Rome you can take the same bus to Naples than a train to Rome, or you can take the same bus in the opposite direction to Foggia, then a train from Foggia to Rome, which however might take a bit longer.
