Naples Taxi from Train station to AVPN Pizza Course

HI there,
This is our first trip to Italy in May ! :) We will be coming in from Rome via train into Naples at 9:15am and our course at AVPN starts at 10am. They told us we will not get there in time if we take the required train and bus. I have researched and there appears to be lots of taxis outside the station. Greatly appreciate any recommendations on which taxis to choose so not ripped off.
Does anyone know where we go in the station to store our luggage? We will be coming back to the train station later in the day to go to Sorrento.
Also, has anyone taken the 5 hour AVPN Course re Neopolitan pizza?
Thank you soo much for your advice! :)

How's your Italian? If you are at all nervous about your pronunciation, just have it written down clearly and ask the driver for the cost before you hop in. I recall a normal taxi line so you should be fine.
RometoRio website can be sketchy for public transport, but it is handy in that it gives a taxi estimate so you know what to expect.
($28-35)

What a great experience!

ummmm I just looked at the trains, and I wouldn't doubt it taking you at least 15 min to get yourselves off the train find the luggage storage place, store the luggage and head out to the taxi stand (like in all big city arrival places, ONLY go to the official taxi stand, others may know prices and such). That means 9:30 in a taxi....at that time of day google says 16-24 minutes. You BETTER have your running shoes on to make it in time for the class, hoping there is no traffic. I hope the building/door is well marked for you to beeline in there!

It looks like there is a train an hour earlier, are you sure you don't want to take that one? You could enjoy a nice coffee and cornetto at a cafe nearby while you wait for it to start!

I am VERY risk averse in these types of situations, it might work out completely fine though!

Hello,

Last month we stopped in Naples for the day and used the KiBag storage in Napoli Centrale. It is near platform 5 and was very quick and convenient. However, that was in early March, not during the busier season of May. You might need to wait in line. They were very helpful and efficient. You will give them your Passport to copy and they will charge you when you return (I think they took my credit card too, I don't remember). If I am remembering correctly, it's 10 euro per bag for the 1st 4 hours and then I think 2 euro per hour after that. They have a website if you want to look at that ahead of time.

If you look at Man in seat 61, he gives you good info regarding Napoli Centrale.

I hope that helps!

I have read that some of the luggage storage spots take reservations, so you might research that and see if it would help you avoid a line.

Yes, there is an option online with KiBag to pre book. We did not use it, and there wasn't a line when we were there, so I can't say how much it helps.

Thank you all so much for your great advice! :) We have decided to take our luggage (carryon only) with us to the AVPN class so we can get out to the taxis faster and then we will go directly from the class to catch the ferry to Sorrento. Is it best to book the ferry in advance or does it matter? Does the price change (like the trains) if you buy just before?
I presume that is a nicer way to get to Sorrento over the train? Thoughts?
Thanks kindly! :)

I don't know if you are willing to distinguish between "getting ripped off" and "being slightly overcharged?" Southern Italy, and especially Naples has a free-wheeling, entrepreneurial spirit not unlike the Silicon Valley Bro's we have here!

Taxi trips in Naples can be either flat rate or metered-the same vehicle. Try to find the taxi rate PDF (it's out of date but still in use.) Flat Rates are supposed to include luggage, but the driver will try to add the luggage charge anyway. Try to get the terms clear before you set out. But what's a Euro per bag, after all?

You didn't say if the pizza class is clearly within the downtown city. Address? You can't be abducted by hackers, from a pizza class! How far is it to the ferry port? Have you checked the ferry schedule? The Circumvesuviana is always there as a backup, luckily.
