Naples on a Sunday?

Working on fine tuning…still!

I think we have decided to drop the 1 night in Naples and just add it to Sorrento.
We are thinking a day trip to Naples will be OK this trip.
The only 2 days we are able to go to Naples are a Sunday and a Tuesday.

Archeological Museum is closed on Tues so we don't really have much choice- we do want to visit that Museum.
We thought we would take ferry from Sorrento then walk up to Museum- spend time there then do RS Naples walk- back to train station.

So my question- will shops be open? I expect some restaurants will not be open and that is fine. I know big stores should be open but I mean little shops in the alleys and such? I figure the city might actually be a bit quieter on Sunday but we don’t want to go if it’s too quiet!

As always thanks

Tourist shops may be open. My experience in Italy is that cafes and restaurants are always open on Sundays. Stores which cater to locals are usually closed on Sundays.

Google maps says 2 kms from the ferry terminal to the museum, I'm sure some of it is uphill and it's not hard to get lost in Naples! I'd take the Circumvesuviana or Campania Express, then the metro to the museum, then the RS walk, then take the ferry back. Why wear yourselves out by starting with a longish walk to the museum. The RS walk will take you through much of the area from the museum to the port.
