Naples Neigbhorhoods?

Having never visited Naples, are there particular neighborhoods you might recommend (or dissuade us from) for a mid-october 5-day stay? To give you an idea of our flavor, we typically stay in Trestavere in Roma. We're comfortable with local transport. We'll likely ve arriving from Rome by Train, and departing Naples by train for Pisa. TIA.

We stayed in Santa Lucia. it was an easy, maybe 15 or 20 minute walk to the Spanish quarter. We liked being able to stroll by the bay of Naples and it was fairly quiet ( for Naples). WE did catch a taxi from the train station, but you could possible take the subway. We were jetlagged though and also it is worth taking a taxi at least once in Naples, sort of in the way you should take a roller coaster ride every once in a while!

Thank you, I will investigate the area... I'm looking forward to my first Naples taxi ride!

Thank you. May I ask what you like about it? And do you have any recommendations for lodging? TIA.

Centro Storico, near Piazza Dante or the MANN.
Or, Chiaia near the Chiaia Metro station or also near Piazza Plebiscito, if you like a bit more upscale.
The quartieri spagnoli are something typically Neapolitan, like Transtevere, but at night you might get scared.

Spaccanapoli is in the Centro Storico and near many sites. It's also centrally located. We can walk to Santa Lucia in 20 minutes or MANN in the opposite direction in 20 minutes. The metro in Piazza Dante can get us further away. The central train station is an easy walk and if we want to take the Cumana the Montesanto station is just as convenient.

We just stayed in a b n b called Gloves. They have 7-8 private rooms en suite, a large common room where you cook your own breakfast from their supplies and an outdoor sitting area. It is up a dead end road walking distance to the National museum. It is a quiet place to stay close to a very local area. The owners are great and usually on site since there is the family business making glove! Look it up!
