Naples- need trattoria and cafe recommendations

We are looking for trattoria and cafe recommendations for Naples. We have several pizzaria places, already. We will be staying in the Vomero neighborhood, but plan to go into central Napled most days. We prefer cozy, low key places. Thanks!

The best places I found in Naples are those I found by pure happenstance - I walked by, it looked good, and so I gave it a try. There are literally countless cozy, low key places everywhere. Just take your pick. The best ones will cater to locals and won't have menus in English. I wish I could remember what cafes I went to, but I only remember the food, which was delicious everywhere (and much better than anything I can get here in the States, especially for the same price).

Yeah, same here for a daytrip from Sorrento in March. We'll have been at the Archeological Museum in the morning, and will want to catch lunch on the way back to Napoli Centrale/Garibaldi train station. (Is that walkable, BTW?) There are some RS-recommended spots, but was wondering if anybody had personal experience.

Thanks!

Jay, Napoli Centrale is at ground level; down an escalator, stairs, or elevator (if it's working) is the Garibaldi station for the Circumvesuviana.

Becky, there are tons of places along Via dei Tribunali. My favorite is Carmine's, old school and not gourmet, but lots of locals go there. They are open for lunch on certain days (or they were last summer).

Jay - According to Google maps, Da Carmine (Via dei Tribunali 330) is a 10 minute walk from the museum. Then a 20 minute walk to Napoli Centrale, continuing in the same direction. According to their FB page, Hours 12:15PM - 4:30PM, 7:00PM - 12:00AM.

I'm planning to try it before I get to Rome, so I'll let you know how it was . . . if we do meet up there.

Thanks, Chani. Last time I was there, a group of musicians came in to sing Neapolitan songs. I cried. And tipped them a euro or two.
