Naples luggage storage near Archeological Museum--or use the train station?

I've gone through the forum posts here, and have been in communication with the museum--they will not store our carryon-sized bags for the time that we are in the museum. They have recommended we use a luggage storage company (I'm waiting to hear if they will give me reliable suggestions).

My husband has Googled and found 2 companies near the museum--has anyone used these locations?

We will be arriving in Naples by ferry and departing by train (same day). Would it simply be easier/faster/more secure/reliable after arriving by ferry to take the Metro directly to the train station and store the bags there? And then Metro to the museum? I'm not sure how long these rides will be, as Google maps currently shows me tram times, not Metro.

As always, your help is greatly appreciated.

According to a couple of different sources - including the ever relevant Seat61 - there is a KiPoint/KiBag inside Napoli Centrale near the Food Hall in Naples train station.

You should be able to take the L1 Metro from Municipio 3 stops to Piazza Garibaldi. There are also buses that make this run essentially from the dock area directly to the train station (and I think go onto the airport).

Trenitalia runs suburban train labeled as Metro L2 which is probably what you're seeing. You can take it one stop and it will put you a couple of blocks from the museum. You can take Metro L1 six stops to Museo which comes out right under the museum.

This does seem a little back and forth so if you could find a baggage storage place near the museum it could save you some time. But of you're not pressed for time the distances are pretty short 10 or 15 minutes so knowing your bags are waiting for you at the station is probably the way I would go. If you get done at the museum and decide to get something to eat in another you'll then have your bags with again or need to go back to get them later. But you always know you'll be back to the station.

Note: The best sfogliatelle in the world is 5 minutes from the Naples train station. Antico Forno delle Sfogliatelle Calde Fratelli Attanasio Vico at Ferrovia 1/2/3/4. Walk over, show up, grab a number right away and wait your turn.
So worth it.

Enjoy Naples,

I received the opposite information when I asked them directly this week.

Visitiamo questo Novembre e Io ho una domanda. Il voi deposito bagagli... come funziona il sistema? Avete “self-service” Armadietti? Se cosi è, sono abbastanza grandi per un zaino 56cm x 33cm x 24cm?
(mi dispiace per il mio italiano)
Grazie,
Chris

Their Response:
Gentile cliente,
Le confermiamo che potrete lasciare il vostro bagaglio presso il guardaroba del museo.
Cordiali saluti,
Michele
