We are looking for safe, Rick Steves' style lodging in Naples located reasonably close to inter- and intracity transportation. We are planning to spend 3 full days in Naples Sunday September 15 through Tuesday September 17 to wrap up 3+ weeks in Italy prior to flying from Naples to Lisbon to start our Rick Steves Portugal tour. While in Naples we want to explore the city, spend at least a full morning at the Naples Archeological Museum, visit Herculaneum, Pompeii, and/or possibly connect with others on a Naples Mondo Guide trip.

Three areas of Naples I like are Chiaia and Veromo. Drawback is you either walk or take the bus. Map with bus locations and direction of travel. Metro and Funiculars, and Circumvesuvian.

The other area is the Centro Storico, around Piazza Bellini, has good metro connections.
I usually use booking.com, and filter for price and location and A/C.

And the Palazzo Reale Castel Nuovo and Castel dell Ovo.
