Hello everyone. I'm having trouble pinning down hotels in Naples, on a city bus route. Can anyone help in the range of $100, single, early November?
Thank you,
Elaine
If you go to Google Maps, open the layers symbol in the upper right corner, then choose the transportation layer and the map will show bus stops, metro stations and funiculars. The metro in Naples is fast and easy to use.
I just went to the booking.com website an if you enter a search and then choose to view a property on a map, the location of that property and others comes up on a ma that shows bus and metro stops. Use the filters to drill down the choices by price, location, etc.
You may want to look at staying in the Vomero neighborhood. It’s on the north end of Naples and is more of a “real” neighborhood. Quiet, lots of trees and on the L1 metro line that you can pick up at the centrale train station. Vomero has great restaurants and bars and feels safe. From Vomero, you can walk down into the main part of Naples., or take bus or the funicular. We stayed there for a week and loved the location. One hotel to consider is Parthenope Suite Rooms. It is a bed and breakfast and the owner is very helpful. Rooms run aroun 70€ a night. We ended up staying at an Airbnb, but were very impressed by the Parthenope Suite owner who sent us several helpful emails.
Hello everyone,
I did not know I could see a transportation route overlaid on top of Hotels on Booking. I will look into that. I have been able to find city maps of bus/metro lines but it's been difficult to drill down and find that 'one' hotel' right on the lines. I will look into Voramo. Thank you for that tip. I currently have reservations at Hotel Bellini which is about 10 minutes from a bus line, ie, about half a mile. I would like to be able to pick up the bus or subway no more than 1/2 block away. As I am traveling alone, I like to have a reception desk available 27/7. If anyone has a specific hotel they can recommend I would appreciate it. ,
I enjoyed my stay at Hotel Art Resort Galleria Umberto which is right near Caffé Gambrinus and the Piazza Plebiscito. There is a bus stop just outside the door of the Galleria for the N1, N2 and R2 lines. It’s less than a 5 minute walk to Toledo Metro station and about 1 minute to the Funiculare Centrale (Augusteo) that will whisk you to the top of the city. Good sized rooms, manned front desk, great breakfast, unique building. There’s a tobacco store on the SE corner of Via Toledo and Via San Carlo to buy transportation tickets. Osteria il Gobbetto at Vico sergente maggiore 8 is a great place to eat; make a reservation, it’s a 3 minute walk.
Note that the neighborhood Becky referred to is Vomero, no Voramo; be sure to spell it correctly so you can find accommodations there.
Phillip and Harold thank you for your help and comments. I will definitely follow up.
