Naples hotel opinions wanted

In April I've organized a trip for four friends starting with a house in Spello for 10 nights, then 4 nights in Sorrento, and ending with 2 nights in Naples. I don't know Naples nearly as well as the other two areas, but I liked my short visit there, grit and all. I stayed at the Decumani Hotel de Charme, which was nice enough, but I didn't see the area nearer the harbor on our one nighter.

I'm looking for opinions from the Naples lovers about the best area to stay in. We will probably try to fit in a couple of museums and a food tour in our two nights and day and a half. I want a nice hotel to end our trip on, especially in case my friends aren't as enamored with crumbling Napoli as I am. It doesn't have to be cheap, since we're splitting the cost of rooms. I have a reservation at the Renaissance Naples Mediterraneo with sea view "high floor panoramic" rooms which sound nice, but I know nothing about the area. What do you think? I want a memorable trip ending for my friends

Ruth,

Have a look at Hotel Chiaia which is in a nice area and within walking distance to some of the museums. If you stay there, be sure to stop by the Gran Caffè Gambrinus which is just a short walk from the hotel. After you've seen that, you may wish you'd booked another day or two in Naples!

We really enjoyed our stay and the location of Palazzo Alabardieri. It is very near the Lungmare, the walk along the Bay of Naples. Upscale area, good restaurants. It is located on a quiet side street. Breakfast was good including delicious small size Sfogliatelle.
We drove to Naples from Spello, an easy drive on autostrada, and dropped the rental
car off at Naples airport, took a taxi to hotel. Be aware of the city’s taxi fixed rates to various locations.
