Naples hotel after the South Italy tour

I just checked the price of the Grand Hotel Oriente in Naples, the last hotel on our 2020 Best of South Italy tour. If we stay on at least 3 nights after the tour, it's €160 per night. Fewer than 3 nights, it's @ €180. Jeepers. That's out of my comfort zone.

I haven't started researching yet, but I'm sure there are perfectly acceptable hotels in Naples that are less expensive. Anyone have a favorite?

And we could very well end up heading back to Sorrento for a couple of nights; we have a favorite inexpensive place there, although I haven't checked the rates lately. The Ulisse Deluxe. Close to the center, great public areas, and when we stayed there a few years ago our room was pleasant and big.

Oh, I just checked their website; they're posting @ €140. I suspect it would be cheaper if I email and ask for the RS discount.

I know it's early yet, but if we were planning to stay in the tour hotel, I'd like to lock that in now.

The first hotel of the tour, the San Francesco in Rome, won't have May prices until September, so I'll hold on that one. Although I'll probably go ahead and book a refundable room at our old favorite, the Aberdeen, for under €130 per night.

Ditto, but they book up quick. I felt the location, terrace room, and breakfast were all worth the cost.

Thanks to you both; I'll check it out.

Edit to add: Wow! This looks like just what we want. I'll send an email right away. The prices on the web are great, and the location is good as well.

Any thoughts on economy vs standard double? The standard double is cheap enough that that's what I'll probably go for, but the economy room speaks to my cheap soul. But the terrace room is not much more than the standard...

Thank you!

Whoop! I splurged on the terrace room. It's still less than the regular room at the tour hotel. Thank you very much!

I hope you get the surprise we got--a spontaneous fireworks display that we were perfectly situated to view from our terrace! Though I recall our room there being of decent size, it is nice to have a bit of breathing room outdoors when you want a respite from the city, or your hotel room.
PS Attanasio pizzeria down the street was really good.

Looks like a good location for access.
We stayed just 1-2 block north of there.

valadelphia, I was totally seduced by the photo of the terrace. Yes, it's a splurge, but every once in a while, we enjoy doing or having something a little extra. Of course, I could envision us sitting there, watching the lights come on in Naples, wine glasses in hand...
