juan, In my experience, Naples is quite safe. I've walked around day and night there carrying expensive Camera gear and never had any problems. However it is prudent to be vigilant for pickpockets, as those in Naples are among the most proficient in the world. Be sure to wear a Money Belt! Whether you have "issues" with crime may depend to some extent on which part of Naples you choose to stay in. I stayed on Via Chiaia on my last visit, and felt that was a very safe area, especially as there seemed to be a constant Police presence in the nearby Piazza. You might find it helpful to read Rick's comments on Naples in the Italy Guidebook. Cheers!

juan, You may also find it helpful to have a look at the U.S. State Dept. information concerning travel in Italy (Canada and the U.K. have similar websites). Here's the link: http://travel.state.gov/travel/cis_pa_tw/cis/cis_1146.html#safety Much of what they describe are situations that can happen, but in reality probably don't happen to the majority of travellers. If you're vigilant and exercise normal precautions, you shouldn't have any problems. Cheers!
