Is it possible to do Rick's "Slice of Neopolitan Life" walk in Naples in morning and then tour Amalfi Coast in the afternoon and still make it back to the cruise ship terminal by 6:30pm? If so, how would you suggest doing it? Thanks for any info. Don
You probably couldn't do it Don. The traffic on Amalfi will slow you down a lot, which is good, because you'll want to enjoy the beautiful scenery.
Myself, I would go to Amalfi early, then see if you could make Naples on the way back.
Enjoy! Italy is awesome.
Does your cruise ship dock in Naples or Civitavecchia in Rome? Many cruisers try this from Rome. If Naples, you have a good chance. It's just over an hour train ride from Naples to Sorrento. It's a 90 minute ride on the SITA bus from Sorrento to Amalfi. You have 5.0-5.5hrs of transportation there. You might be able to save some time if the jet boat is running between Naples and Sorrento.
CLICK HERE to see the SITA bus schedule. You might have to look close at the schedule and get off half way or so and then catch a bus returning to Sorrento.
I would not, you will be stressed the whole time. I would select one or the other. Also besides walking in Naples there is an arch. museum w/ world class exhibits/antiquities from Pompeii. If you want drop dead gorgeous scenery only , plan on the amalfi coast. It is memorable.
You may be able to do it, but you won't enjoy it and you will miss a lot of important sights.
Thanks guys for the info. Very helpful. Looks like my trip may be too aggressive. So, my wife and I are celebrating our 25th anniversary. I know her well enough to know she will be frightened (more like traumatized!!!) by the bus ride along the Amalfi Coast. And besides that, I think it would be neat to do a boat trip from Naples port to the Amalfi Coast section. Better photo ops from the sea. Is that right? Anyone ever done the Amalfi Coast by boat?
