We are flying out of Naples and would like a recommendation of a reasonable place to stay the night prior to departure. We are using the rail system as our main source of transportation. We are not sure if the rail runs into the airport terminal. So, we need a place to stay that has easy access. Thanks.

Earlier this year we spent three nights in Naples and stayed at Hotel Cavour in Piazza Garibaldi. I know most people will say this is a terrible neighborhood to stay but we enjoyed it. The hotel was great and we had a room with a terrace and great view, great breakfast and the restaurant served great dinners as well. The hotel is across the piazza from the train station, a five minute walk at most. We didn't go out at night so can't speak to the nighttime safety; there is a lot of garbage piled up and even though they seem to pick it up each morning it seems to miraculously reappear in a few minutes. None of this detracted from our enjoyment of Naples and Hotel Cavour. You can check it out at booking.com or other sites.

Cynthia, You might also have a look at This Hotel. It's located in a nice part of the city, and there are some good restaurants in that area. I'd suggest checking with the staff at the Hotel regarding transportation to the airport. I'm sure they'll have information on the best method. Happy travels!

I used the bus to/from the airport (can't recommend the place I stayed). One stop outside the train station, one by the ferry dock. Go here: http://www.portal.gesac.it/portal/page/portal/internet/inAEROPORTO/Autobus
