Naples area in early December

I will be going on a pilgrimage tour to Italy from Thanksgiving to December 3, 2025. I want to extend the trip with a few days' trip to the Naples area. I will be traveling after the group tour by myself and I was thinking of taking a train to Naples and staying and taking small group day tours to Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast but not sure of these tour companies operate in the off season. If so, which one(s) are the best? Also. hotel recomendations for Naples? Thanks!

Hotel Bellini is frequently recommended by the forum folks, and we stayed there on a previous trip in their lowest level of room (it was Easter and everything was expensive!). It was a bit dorm-like but perfectly fine. The hotel is in a great location, with a nice courtyard to get away from the craziness of Napoli, and a very good breakfast. On our trip later this year, we are staying in an apartment since we are traveling with family and need 3 beds.

Mondo Tours is also recommended here a lot. I haven't used them but use the search feature on this site to see previous reviews.

Have fun! Naples is quite the experience. :)

Given your lack of plans I would suggest you look into Salerno. If Pompeii and the AC are your actual interests Salerno has the best access to the AC - minutes away instead of an hour+ - good access to Pompeii and Paestum as well. Naples is about 40 minutes away on the train if you want to visit the city, see the museum etc.

Salerno is not Naples - it is much smaller, manageable, and walkable with only a fraction of the chaos of Naples. Whether this is a plus or a minus for you is your call. Naples is an amazing city but it is a lot.

When you go to Naples the sfoglie at Sfogliatelle Attanasio 5 minutes from the train station is a-maz-ing. Show - get a ticket - and wait your turn. Most of the time there is a crowd in the street either waiting or eating sfoglie.

Have a great trip,
