We will be ending a month tour in the fall that includes Amalfi and Sorrento. My question we are flying out of Naples very early 6:40a. We have 3 extra nights should we stay in Naples or is there an area near by that would work. We've been in Naples but never stayed there. We ae not opposed to staying in Sorrento for 2 extra nights with a one night stay near the airport. We will not have a car. Suggestions?
To me it would depend on the overall trip (would it be possible to extend any previous stays, for example) , but I would most definitely stay the last night in Naples at the very least, as it is only a ten-minute drive to the airport at that time of the morning--no need to stay any closer to the airport than the city itself. What did you see and do the last time you were in Naples?
Naples is a fascinating city and worth spending a few days in if what it offers is of interest. There is of course great food, but also interesting neighbourhoods, and incredibly gracious locals. The archaeology museum is its most well known but there are some other smaller ones and beautiful churches that all could easily fill a few days.
I love Naples. The good thing is that the airport is a 10-15 minute drive from the center of town. I stayed in Santa Lucia (nice area) and had an early flight. There was a taxi stand across the street from my hotel (B&B Lex Room Santa Lucia) with a bunch of taxis always waiting, which made it very easy to get around.
We stayed in Naples near the waterfront in
Palazzo Alabardieri, great location. Early flight out too, easy.
Yes, stay in Naples. Your hotel can call a cab for you and it only takes a few minutes to get to the airport early in the morning. I have done it several times.
Thanks for the advice. I think we will stay in Naples. Sounds like getting to the airport should not be a problem.
