We plan on visiting the Naples Museum on our way from Rome to Sorrento (we change trains in Naples). We would like to visit the Museum but will have our carryon luggage (on wheels) with us and need to know if we can check it in and if it would be secure. Also what is the best, safest wasy to get from the train station to the Museum. Thanks everyone
yes...there are lockers provided, various sizes.
Taking your luggage to the museum could be a real hassle on the subway. There is a bag check at the Naples Central station that is staffed by an attendant. Have used it a couple of times with no problems. Just drop off your bag, get on the subway and you will be dropped about a block from the museum. If you have time, take the walk described in Rick's book down the Spaccanapoli. It basically ends right by the two recommended pizza places that are only a few blocks from the train station.
We'll be going in the opposite direction. We plan on traveling from Sorrento to Siena. When transfering in Naples, we were thinking of visiting the Archeological Museum for a couple of hours before heading off to Rome to transfer on to Siena.
From these posts, I think I can go from Sorrento to Naples, leave our luggage at the Naples train station, and then take the subway to the Archeological Museum. Can anyone please verify if this is still the case (as the original post was made over a year ago)?
Also, how much time should we allot to the museum visit? Husband was an anthropology major in college, so I figure we would tack on an hour to what is recommended. Thanks!
OMG!!! Someone else in this world is an anthropology major other than me :) What does your husband do now? I am going back to college to get another degree because there are NO jobs in the Ohio Valley (my advisors forget to tell me this).
